Landing A Remote QA Role — What's Actually Different

Remote QA roles want everything an in-office hire wants — plus:

  • Async communication. Write Loom videos for bug reproductions. Document context in the ticket.
  • Self-managed schedule. No one will tap you on the shoulder.
  • Pipeline literacy. You'll be expected to read a failing CI run without help.
  • Time-zone overlap. Even "remote" usually means 4 hours of overlap with the core team.

To compete: build a public portfolio. A remote hiring manager who can't watch you work needs to see you work.
